On December 31, 2012 the Marshall County Sheriff's Office was advised by an anonymous caller that there were some children at the residence located at 1240 Sam Simpson Road and that there was meth being manufactured at the residence. The Department of Children Services was notified of the situation. Deputy Mauro Edwards, Deputy Lori Haynes, Detective Tony Nichols, Detective Chad Bass and the Department of Children's Services went to 1240 Sam Simpson Road. There they talked with a resident of the home who was identified as Brandon Caperton. Mr. Caperton gave permission for the Officers to enter the residence to check the welfare of the children. Two other adults were in the residence and were identified as Shelby Ferguson of Lewisburg and Kristen Leslie of Murfreesboro. A check of the National Precursor Log showed that Caperton, Ferguson and Leslie all had extensive purchases of Pseudoephedrine within the month of December. Pseudoephedrine is the main drug used to make meth. A search of the residence turned up a clandestine meth lab. There were three young children present at the residence. Caperton, Ferguson and Leslie were arrested for charges ranging from Aggravated Child Endangerment to Initiation or Process with the Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine. The TN Methamphetamine Task Force Unit was called to remove the lab and the residence was quarantined by the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force.

General All Topics U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., made the following statements regarding Senate confirmation of Joe H. Ritch, of Alabama; Michael McWherter, of Tennessee; Vera Lynn Evans, of Tennessee; and C. Peter Mahurin, of Kentucky, to be members of the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors. The nominees passed the Senate by unanimous consent Tuesday evening.

"Good leadership at TVA is a priority for all Tennesseans, who count on having access to cheap, clean, reliable electricity-and I believe, after meeting these individuals and studying their backgrounds and qualifications, that they will provide strong board leadership," said Alexander.

"I was encouraged by the backgrounds of these nominees and am pleased they were confirmed by the Senate. TVA's ability to provide low-cost, reliable power is critical to the economic health of our state and region, so I appreciate the willingness of experienced individuals to serve TVA as it goes through an important leadership transition over the next few months," said Corker.
